Bernice G. Miley, 90, of 314 Center Ave., died Friday morning, August 5, 2005 at Pine Haven Christian Home.

Bernice was born Dec. 11, 1914 in Sheboygan to John W. and Christina (Entringer) Schaf. She attended Holy Name Catholic School and Sheboygan Vocational School.

In 1928 Bernice met Eugene M. Miley at the Sheboygan Grant School ice skating rink and thus began their courtship.

On Oct. 23, 1934 they were united in marriage aboard the Battleship U.S.S. New York in Bremmerton, Washington. This past October they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Bernice was a member of St. Clement Catholic Parish. She served as a Cub Scout leader for a number of years while raising her family. She also enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, dancing, and singing with her children.

For many years Bernice was self-employed as an excellent seamstress in the Sheboygan area.

In addition to her devoted husband, Eugene, Bernice is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Eugene) Stanley of San Antonio, Texas; her son, Daniel (Ruth) Miley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her daughter-in-law, Carol Miley of Horicon; nine grandchildren, Mary Stanley (husband, Glen Larson), John (Myra) Stanley, Paul Stanley, David Miley, Jennifer Miley, Peter Miley, Rick (Lori) Miley, Denise (Costas) Skiadas and Steven Miley; three great-grandchildren, Jackson T. Miley, Christian T. Miley and Alison Skiadas; and other relatives and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her son, Richard Miley; a sister, Leona Schaf; and two brothers, Raymond Schaf and Stanley Schaf.

A Memorial Mass for Bernice will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 13, at St. Clement Catholic Church by the Rev. James E. Connell, pastor. A time of visitation and support will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for Holy Family School.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home for their excellent care and hospitality.

Bernice will always be remembered for her unique ability to make a joyous Christmas for her family every year. She will be dearly missed.
