  • 1871—1876: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellis, Portage County, WI
    Church built in 1867 at Ellis at Poland Corners. In 1871 it was dismanteled and moved to Polonia. It was destroyed by fire in 1875. It was replaced by Sacred Heart Church in Polonia.
1876 
  • 1876: Telephone
    Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone.
  • 1876: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia, Portage County, WI
    Sacred Heart Church and convent-school buildings were started and completed in 1884. It was built of local stone and capped with parallel steeples. This Church served until 1902, and replaced by larger structure that resembled the European cathedrals. In 1934 it was struck by lightning and partially burned. It was razed and replaced. --- Susan Bigalke Chapman's grandfather Theodore Bigalke told her he helped to re-built the Church.
  • 1876: St. Peter Catholic Church, Stevens Point, Portage County, WI
    St. Peter Catholic Church was built by 53 families in 1876. Burndt by fire in 1896. Re-built in 1897.

    Built in 1881/1882. Re-built in 1958.
1883 
  • 1883: St. Batholomew Catholic Church, Mill Creek, Portage County, WI
    Built as mission Church of St. Michael's Church of Junction City in 1883. Re-built in 1910.
1884 
  • 1884: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Fancher, Portage County, WI
    Built in 1884 as a daughter parish of Sacred Heart. Re-built as a Gothic revival building in 1905.

    Built in 1890's.

    Built in 1896, re-built in 1911 and demolished in 1999. New Church built in 1991.

    St. Adalbert Catholic Church built in 1898, as a daughter church of Sacred Heart. Re-built in 1935.
